The Juvenile Court of Union County serves youth and their families within the jurisdiction. Union County Juvenile Court strives to provide services and structure to all the youth and their families who come into the court’s system. It is the mission of the Juvenile Court to guide families and youth in the direction of success in the future.
The Union County Juvenile Court will close with the Union County School System in the case of inclement weather.
DUTIES OF THE JUVENILE COURT
- Adjudication of children as dependent and neglected, abused, status/unruly, or delinquent
- Determination of custody
- Termination of parental rights
- Commitment of children to the custody of the Department of Children Services
- Establishment of parentage
- Establishing visitation for non-custodial parents
- Enforcement of the compulsory school attendance laws
- Adjudication of alleged traffic violations by persons under the age of eighteen
- Transfer of serious delinquency cases to criminal court for trial as adults
