JASON BAILEY
Dr. Jason Bailey was elected as Union County Mayor on August 4, 2018 and took office on September 1, 2018. Before being elected County Mayor, Dr. Bailey was employed with the Union County School System where he served as a teacher and elementary school principal. Mayor Bailey and his wife April have one son, Jaxon, and have both lived in Union County their entire lives. Mayor Bailey’s main objective is to move Union County forward in terms of economic growth, workforce training, recreation and tourism.
DUTIES OF THE MAYOR
The County Mayor is the Chief Executive Officer of the county. The County Mayor should have a better picture of the total government operation than any other county official, and should also have the knowledge, information and leadership ability to steer the county in the direction most beneficial to the county’s future.
The County Mayor is charged with the care and custody of all county property. The County Mayor also serves as a non-voting, ex-officio member of each committee of the legislative body and appoints members to all county boards/committees.
